Pre Set-Up:

  • Read operator's manual before using.
  • Use appropriate PPE.
  • Use wet-cutting if cutting concrete or asphalt to maintain dust concentrations below established exposure limits.
  • Inspect the saw before use as outlined in manual.
  • Use care when fuelling.  Do not add fuel while the saw is running or still hot.
  • Ensure cutting wheel is in good condition - no chips, cracks, or warping.
  • Use appropriate cutting wheel for material being cut.
  • Never use water with a dry-cut wheel.
  • Use only in areas that allow good balance and footing.

Task procedure:

  • Always hold machine firmly with both hands.
  • Be aware of rotational forces created when the blade is turning.
  • Be aware of reactive forces when cutting - kickback and pull-in.
  • Do not stand in line with cutting wheel.
  • Do not operate above shoulder height.
  • Keep cutting wheel straight in the cut - avoid wedging the blade.
  • Do not grind on the side of the wheel - use bottom of wheel for cutting.

Post Procedure:

  • Inspect machine for any problems - ensure it is clean and in good condition before storing.
  • Avoid touching hot muffler or blade - risk of burns.
  • Bring saw to Mechanics if repairs are needed - note the problem on a repair tag and attach it to the saw.
  • Do not return a damaged saw to its regular storage area.
